indie rock show booking in moncton
I'm in an indie rock band from Montreal and we're trying to book a tour out east. Just wondering who to contact in Moncton for this kind of a show. Thanks,

Jean-Marc Goguen Feb 12, 2003, 8:37 PM

I bought the Eric's Trip anthology cd a couple of months ago. It's awesome to see how the band has evolved over the years.

Forgoten Band
Hey Pac, That would have been Earth A.D. And if I'm correct it was Dec 02 1991. I'm going to check out your site, and so should everyone else. The Sour Grapes new album is killer.

Pak Feb 11, 2003, 8:51 PM

First All Ages
I can't quite remember but the earliest memory I have seems to be at the Kacho in 19?? The Monoxides, Tormented, Les Vache Sacres and someone else I think. Someone fill in the blank if you remember. It later was put on Cassette as Naked In The Marsh 2 I think. I wonder why I have such a hard time remembering thnigs. Gotta go have a beer.

Pak Feb 11, 2003, 8:42 PM

Sour Grapes
Hey guys, this is Pak from Sour Grapes. We're still waiting on some info before being added to the moncton locals band list but until then check out our website. www.sourgrapes227.com there's some mp3's on there if anyone's interested.

first all-ages show
my first all-ages show was actually the one that say 10 has listed, and i think it was the summer of 1988.

Philippe Bourque Feb 11, 2003, 5:29 PM

FIrst all ages show
Gob, Big Wig, Douglas and Self_Inflicted*, at..... what was the name ah yes the esquire.

All Ages Shows!
Thanks for the Sucking Cock comment..CB Locals is a great site, and there's no better mouthful to have than cblocals.

I usually try to go by "Only speak if what you have to say is better than silence." It's too bad you don't feel the same way.

As for all ages shows..Does anyone remember GRASSHOPPER @ Aberdeen? That was my first show!

The petitions: I'm going to collect these around the end of February..how's everyone doing??

PJ Feb 11, 2003, 4:21 PM

first all ages show
Mine was in May of 87,at the lion's center on Saint george st. Pond Scum,Bad Luck,Lack of Talent,6 Foot 3,Black Forest Cake Trade. It was a great show, then the police busted it for some reason.

Marco Feb 11, 2003, 4:01 PM

The First one I saw was The Monoxides/Hope and Bush at the shipyard.....I think it was in 1993. I saw shows at the schools before that but they don't count....cause they were at school....so they don't count. Fuck....the Shipyard was such a good venue for shows!

Say10 Feb 11, 2003, 3:37 PM

First local All Ages show
What/where/when was the first All Ages show you saw in Moncton?
Mine was The Zodiac,No Explanation and Bad Luck 13 @ The Kacho(U de M campus)...I'm not sure the date or even the year..maybe summer 87?

Say10 Feb 11, 2003, 3:19 PM

Hey Mike...
I wish it was that easy around here. But there are no halls left to rent out(that I know of).I've watched every All Ages venue/hall we've had in the last 15 or so years either close down or stopped renting because of violence and vandalism.Hopefully this petition started up will help out in our quest for an ALL AGES venue.

Mike Feb 11, 2003, 1:51 PM

All ages shows
one thing we used to do back in Windsor, ON for all ages shows.. we'd rent out a hall or room at a community center and book a handfull of bands. charge a few bucks, nothing greedy but just to cover the cost of renting the hall and maybe gas money to any bands that came from out of town. Most cool bands are willing to play for free for the exposure an all ages show can give. and as long as nobody trashes the joint you can play regular shows like these. Is there any places like this in Moncton that we can rent out? I just moved here a few years ago so I dont really know the city as well as other people.

You're just mad cause you live in Cape Breton.Don't blame Monctonlocals for your sister cheating on you with your dad. That's not our fault. Now why don't you go outside and breath in some of that fresh CB air.

Marco Feb 11, 2003, 1:12 PM

PEOPLE! Let's get those petitions signed so we CAN have an all ages venue!

ken kelley Feb 11, 2003, 12:14 PM

Yer Mom Feb 10, 2003, 10:06 PM

I'm with The Chief. This isn't a place to bash people. Unless it's Byron from Lamesass Records. If ya don't like a band, or you have personal problems with someone in a band, take care of it elsewhere.

The Chief Feb 10, 2003, 7:58 PM

Who cares what he was doing? Why do you care? Does it bother you how he was gyrating his hips? Or better yet, is there a method of gyrating that would have pleased you more???

EvilYardGnome Feb 10, 2003, 6:58 PM

oh by the way
Did anybody see Devin Q at doing pelvic gyrations during the feedback scars show with shamus? Did you see him and his pony with a paper plate mask on his face pretending to be a cat.

EvilYardGnome Feb 10, 2003, 6:57 PM

holy jebesus
Moncton bands have a page, that's not normal that's INSANITY!

Cheap place to live
Hey all,
As fate would have it, I may be relocating to moncton for work and I need a cheap bachelor pad. Can someone direct me to a source of moncton apartments. And can someone list some areas of town that are cheaper than others (slums).
Thanks loads

zman Feb 7, 2003, 7:28 PM

when I first came to Moncton in 70 I thought I had ben dropped off in Siberia...no clubs..no bud ..no scene..yikes..for 30 freakin yrs I growled about it and finally! finally !your generation came through and are playin great heavy shit...tryin to start cool venues and now this site ,RFO people...keep it growing dont take any shit and mosy importantly SUPPORT YOUR OWN....

Don Feb 7, 2003, 6:27 PM

I started my car up early..to let it warm up before I took it to the Maximum RNR / Grapes show..

I got inside..and decided I had way too much to do, to go out for a night.

I let the car run all night.

This morning - no gas - no battery ...fun day!

So I'm really sorry I missed the show..but I totally got paid back for it..KARMA!

Gavin MacNeil Feb 7, 2003, 1:21 PM

oh, and don, you should put the last 4 mp3's on the ditchpigs site, some of my favorite songs are in that batch. Rembember the time me & Ghyzz sang Forever's a long time in PEI, boy was i ever drunk, ahhh... gotta love those 5$ pitchers

Don Feb 7, 2003, 12:05 AM

I agree, and I believe this is something that we CAN do.

I'll get in touch with Harry, and make sure it's cool to add mp3s to the server.

I'm all for Marco's idea.

Marco Feb 6, 2003, 5:29 PM

Hey. Can we get an mp3 page here? I don't know what we have to work with, with the site, so maybe it's not even possible, but it would definitely be a cool way to display what the city has to offer as far as our bands go. Plus it would also be cool for any moncton bands that don't have their own website to host the mp3s. Plus I just want more music. Just a thought.

Dan7 Feb 6, 2003, 10:38 AM

I'm all for the Monoxides doing some more stuff....just as long as Iron Giant doesn't drop off the map or anything.

Don Feb 6, 2003, 12:18 AM

Hey Nick
Nick, drop me a direct email sometime man!

As for SOMEONE TO HATE MORE THAN YOURSELF..I have no clue when it's coming out..we have a lot of work to do. We originally said February, but decided it needed work, so it will be rerecorded this year. Thanks a ton for the interest! It means a lot. - Look for new mp3s on the site in late Feb.

Nick Feb 5, 2003, 4:51 PM
